About
Dr. Amilcar Soares is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Computer Science and Media Technology at Linnaeus University (LNU). Prior to joining LNU, he was an Assistant Professor at Memorial University, a research associate at the Institute for Big Data Analytics, and an Adjunct Professor at Dalhousie University. His research interests include spatiotemporal data enrichment, segmentation, classification, clustering, and visualization. He holds a Ph.D. in computer science from the Federal University of Pernambuco (Brazil). He has been involved in several research projects funded by the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC), the Department of Fisheries and Oceans (DFO), Transport Canada (TC), and Defence Research and Development Canada Atlantic (DRDC Atlantic).
