QGIS: Geographic information systems for research data (Infravis Training Module)

This workshop will introduce you to Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and the use of the open-source software QGIS. The aim is to understand the fundamental concepts of GIS (i.e., vector, raster, and coordinate reference systems), become familiar with potential research analyses in GIS, and practise creating a project, importing and integrating spatial and non-spatial data, georeferencing historical maps, and exporting maps. In the end, we will also briefly cover the available online resources for acquiring data and continuing your studies in the future..
