ForskarFredag is a one-week annual science festival held at various places around Sweden. Being a part of European Researchers’ Night, ForskarFredag creates venues and dialogues between researchers and the public. Their aim is to challenge stereotypes about researchers and instead show what it is like to work as a scientist, thereby inspiring higher education and a career in research.

This year InfraVis participated in ForskarFredag both in at Visualiseringscenter C in Norrköping, and at Vattenhallen Science Center in Lund.

At Visualiseringscenter C, two different program points were offered: at the DOME, Mario Romero, InfraVis’ National Technical Manager, and InfraVis user Alessandro Iop showcased how cutting-edge visualization and interactive simulation—enhanced with 3D-printed replicas of a patient’s skull and brain—can transform how we understand the brain’s complexity. Their work bridges AI and real-world anatomy, creating a powerful new learning experience where science comes to life.

InfraVis user Jonas Lundberg presented a unique simulation where an air traffic controller controls both airplanes and UAVs, and how people can work together with AI for future traffic solutions.

At Vattenhallen in Lund, InfraVis users Helena Filipsson, Anders Persson, and Josefine Larsson gave a talk about the Baltic Sea and showed 360 degrees videos in the DOME, assisted by Anna Arnadottir from Vattenhallen, and InfraVis Application Expert Jens Nirme, who made the videos viewable.

Through initiatives like ForskarFredag, InfraVis empowers the next generation of researchers to explore cutting-edge science through state-of-the-art visualization technologies. By combining research, technology, and public engagement, InfraVis not only makes complex scientific concepts accessible, but also inspires curiosity, creativity, and collaboration among learners and researchers alike.
