InfraVis identified as key to Unlocking Data Potential at facilities like MAX IV and ESS
A recent report from the Swedish Research Council, Bottlenecks that Delay the Benefits of Large-Scale Research Infrastructure, highlights the need for continued development of expertise and user-friendly tools for data analysis and visualization in Sweden. To fully unlock the potential of research facilities like MAX IV and ESS, collaboration with existing infrastructures for data handling, analysis, and visualization—such as InfraVis—is essential.
The report, based on literature studies, surveys, interviews, and expert insights, presents key recommendations. The highest priority is to “develop complete and user-adapted data analysis, including AI support, handling, storage, and visualization,” a task identified as best led by InfraVis and NAISS. Achieving this goal will require targeted investments in expertise, software development, and training.
InfraVis is committed to supporting this effort, ensuring that researchers have access to the tools and knowledge needed to maximize the impact of their data. The recognition from the Swedish Research Council reinforces our role as a complementary infrastructure to MAX IV and ESS, driving the development of high-quality, accessible data visualization and analysis solutions.
