About
I work as a research assistant at Lund University, focusing on image analysis of marine biological materials.
Within my InfraVis project, I use µCT and advanced visualization techniques to investigate how the Marco Polo oil spill (Hanö Bay, 2023) has affected blue mussel (Mytilus sp.). The shells of the mussels are scanned in a micro X-ray tomograph (RX Solutions EasyTom150) and then analysed using software such as Dragonfly 3D World. By quantifying shell density, microstructural integrity, growth patterns, and potential deformities in three dimensions, we aim to visualize robust, data-driven indicators of both short and long-term ecological effects.
The study is based on samples from both impacted and control areas, enabling comparisons of environmental effects. The work builds on previous analyses and is further developed using new datasets from 2024 and 2026.
