InfraVis application expert Alexandros Sopasakis has co-authored a paper accepted to the ECCV 2026 Workshops, part of one of the world’s leading conference series in computer vision. The paper was presented at the ECCV conference in Malmö.

The work was carried out together with researchers including InfraVis user Helena Filipsson and focuses on the segmentation of individual foraminifera in X-ray microtomography volumes. By combining domain expertise with advanced image analysis methods, the team developed new approaches for studying these microscopic organisms in three dimensions.

This project demonstrates how image analysis and visualization can support research by enabling detailed exploration of complex 3D datasets. Foraminifera are widely used as environmental and climate proxies, and the new methods provide researchers with improved tools for analysing their internal structures.
