InfraVis Application Expert Vasiliki Tsoumari led a hands-on GIS workshop at Uppsala University. This user training workshop offered an introduction to Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and hands-on experience with the open-source software QGIS.

The participants went home with an understanding of fundamental GIS concepts, after exploring potential research applications in the humanities and social sciences, and practicing building their own GIS project. The results were exported in maps. The participants were also introduced to what InfraVis and how we are working by Umeå University node coordinator Ingela Nyström. This workshop was given in collaboration with Centre for Digital Humanities (CDHU) on site at Uppsala University.
